    gen1 sbc wont start

i have a 91 s10 with a sbc. it sat for a month without starting it while i was moving. i go to start it last week and nothing. i check fuel pressure(its carb) and 7ish psi. and it sprays in the primaries. so then i move to ingition. week looking spark so i test the coil and moduel. both turn out fine which should be the case the dist. only has 1500 miles on it. i notice a little build up on the contacts inside the dist. so i replaced it and the cap. then i put new ac plugs in and still no fire. its getting 12 volts with key on and 10-11 while cranking. so now im stumped. i have fuel, air and spark is my only issue. what now??? i havent tested my spark at the plug since my last starting atempt but its late and i was by myself. any ideas? thanks gary

When you replaced the cap did the clocking change at all Because your timing maybe off enough not to start.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

What kind of distributor and coil set up? If HEI, did you reinstall the ground strap for the coil and the bushing (button contact with seal) before you put the coil back in? Did you put the plug wires back in place properly? If MSD style distributor have you checked the coil wire with a meter? If points, you should only have 9 volts to the coil with key in on position, 12 volts while cranking.

check the plugs and make sure that they are not fouled out or flooded. i have had similar issues with a truck when i left it sitting for for a while and went back to crank it. i wound up having to put new plugs in but yours should be ok since you said you just replaced them. have you tried holding the throttle wide open while cranking in case it's flooded?

also make sure the battery is fully charged because they won't crank if all the power is going to starter to turn it over and not enough to fire the plug.

i replaced all of the following in the last 2 days. cap, rotor, plugs. my buddy jokingly said spray some ether in it and she fired for 2 secoonds but i had 1 plug out checking fire so i shut her down. i put it all back together and now it wont fire. took the carb off to see if maybe something got clogged. tore it down everything looked good but when i was putting it back together i broke the AN banjo fitting in to the carb. so now i need to order a new one and see if the carb is the issue since it fired with ether. the weird thing is i checked fire at the plug before we used the ether and it wasnt getting any but it fired???? wtf. i hate these old motors......
