Driveshaft too short after tranny swap...

Did a straight up 4l60E for 4L60E transmission swap and ended up with my driveshaft being an inch too short. Does this make any sense?

What I'm seeing now is what used to be behind the seal (polished, is now new rust) is out beyond the seal by about an inch meaning it isn't engaged on the output shaft as much as it used to be.

I think this could be a problem, am I wrong?

Why would 4L60E's be different lengths?

But isn't that the length difference between a non-LS transmission and an LS transmission?

    All except Corvette and LS1/LS2?

I made sure this was a 4L60E out of an LSx truck. As far as I know, a 4L60E out of an earlier vehicle (non-LSx) will not just bolt in.

Sorry, I should have mentioned the LS thing earlier.

Check to see if the seals on the tailshaft are the same on both, some have a seal that sits flat with the end of the tailshaft and some have a seal that sticks out about an inch. I may just be a different seal at the end making it look like its shorter...

Yep...I'm too late....there's a booted seal and a non-booted seal. They need to be used in the proper trans but the yoke and therefore vehicle application should matter. The boot is a about 1" long.
