    Camshafts

hello everyone new to the site here so i apologize if i post in the wrong section. I'm looking for some advice on camshaft up grades for my 5.3l in my silverado. I'm basically looking at a top end rebuild, Valves, springs, push rods and rocker and also a posi. As of now i have a Cold air intake performance dual exhaust. I know a tune is necessary once engine work is done. I'm looking for a good setup for a daily driver/street. My second question is, will the stock torque converter with hold to the aftermarket parts? any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I had a Thunder racing 220/220 cam in my DD and it was really nice, reliable and yet lots of extra power on it. Call up comp cams or texas speed or someone and tell them and they can get you hooked up.

If your gonna spend that much on a camshaft id go bigger. And what do you mean by tuner? Allen nelson does the majority of the tuning on this site

A hand held tuner won't be able to tune for a cam properly, a custom tune is the only way to go for a cam'd vehicle. You could also buy HP Tuners and learn to tune for yourself if your feeling ambitious. Do you do any heavy towing with your truck?

I just installed the thunder racing cam, did springs and push rods. Dont worry about changing the rockers, the stock ones will work fine. Get a Nelson tune and you will be good to go. And yes you will need a converter, I still have the stock converter and it sucks. I going with the yank 2600.

You Seriously will not be happy with that small of a cam. The TR220 is a great DD cam. But in bold it tells the story. If you REALLY dont want to get a stall the old man cam which is a step smaller is a decent choice. Better off the line but the top end isnt near as good. I think its like a 214/220 with a 115+2 or something in that area.
