Trucks running Walbro 255 fuel pump..

Since I've installed the walbro 255 in tank fuel pump, I have to turn the ignition on for about two to three seconds to let the fuel pressure build up before my truck will start up. Does anyone else have a starting up issue that is running the walbro 255 in tank pump? Thanks

Could I resolve this by putting a stock pump back in the tank and adding an in-line pump? Because my truck does it on every fire up... its getting pretty annoying and people look at me like my truck is some broken down p.o.s..... only if they could see it when the hammer is down!! haha

inline pump is a bandaid. you could install a inline check valve or replace pump with one that has a working checkvalve. i got used to it. cycle key let it build pressure and fire it

i have a stock pump and im having this same issue.. if the truck sits for a decent amount of time, ill have the same problem.
i thought my fuel pressure regulator might be bad, but my fuel pressure gauge, while driving, doesnt show that.
ive noticed the pressure on that guage go up... and then slide down while the key is in the run position, before starting.

Mine did the exact same thing when I hooked a fuel pressure gauge to it.

I can only help the hijacker here (sorry Mike) but that's not normal. Driving test matters not for a restart pressure situation. If the pressure bleeds off as soon as you cut the key, there is a problem. Depends on what year (returnless or not) what the problem is but it's most likely the stock pump.

No problems with in-tank Walbro 255s. If the pressure's dropping with the key in Run after priming, I'd be suspicious of fasteners (assuming the problem started after swapping pumps).

Both of my trucks worked great with the Walbro. Maybe you can install a check valve inline somewhere. I would try a new pump if it were mine.
