    t5 onto lq9

    so ive got a freind trying to sell me a t5 trans out of a 99 trans-am to bolt up to my 6L lq9. dose anybody know off hand if that trans will even bolt up properly.

    The T56 was the trans behind the LS1, I dunno about the T5 unless that's what they put behind the V-6. In that case, I wouldn't recommend it, especially if your 6.0 is putting out decent power.

    The T56 is marginal, I would never consider the T5.

    what kinda trans would you suggest, id really like to keep it a manuel.

    T5 wont work with the LS motors. yes the T56 works and its the same theory as getting the t56 to work with the LS1

    T5 only good for 300 ft/lbs torque.

    T56 would be good.
    TKO 600 is good 5 speed trans. dont know if you can bolt to Gen-III though.

    TKO 600 is good, shift is a little notchy, but I like it.
    Has a real nice firm mechanical feel to it. You know when its in gear.

    I'll be having the one on my Mustang for sale soon. swapping to an auto.

    cool sounds good. let me do a little research on the tko and let me know when your ready to get rid of it. i might pick it up off ya. thanks guys
