Gear and POSI swap for Austin area guys

Just wanted to let the Austin area guys know that my cousin and I are doing gear and posi swaps at my house in cedar park for $150. You buy all the parts and we install. Install time is an estimated four hours max. Richmond gears are really good but can be a bit noisy some times, Motive gears are also good and a bit quieter. As for posi thats ur choice please make sure you buy all the needed bearing and seals to do the swap also will need 3 quarts of gear lube, posi lube is needed if you are using regular gear lube. I suggest Royal Purple of Lucas gear oil.... Since the Royal Purple and Lucas are synthetic they do not need the posi lube or friction modifier....... Just send me a PM......

That might be possible. I need to get a digital camera first. Jeff or Chevy Lee should be getting gear swap soon. Major thing is having all of the correct tools. Dial gauge, bearing removal tools, Impact wrench is always handy.... If you dont already have the tool or have a friend who has them might be better to just have it done for you....

Warranty thats a good one. All I can promise is that it is installed correctly i will make sure it is driven around and you are happy with it before you leave. Remember you need a brief break in period before u give it the beans.......!!!!!!!!

    Ok here goes.

Ring and pinion of your choice. I belive the gear selections for gm 10 bolt go from 3.42, 3.73, 4.10 and then on up from there. Richmond gear makes a nice kit that includes everything needed, its $325.Richmond Gear 49-0041-1K - Richmond Ring & Pinion Packages - JEGS

Locker of your choice, make sure it is for the correct rear end. The 99 and up 10 bolts have bigger axels in them so just make sure you get the correct Differential for your housing.

If you do not buy the Richmond kit mentioned about the you will also need. Pinion bearing for your application, crush sleeve, carrier bearings. 3 quarts of gear lube, ( I strongly suggest Royal Purple or Lucas fully synthetic).

For added strength a girdle cover is suggested. LPW makes them along with a few other companies. These are the aluminum covers with the pre load bolts for the carrier bearing caps. This helps even the load on the carrier bearing to reduce stress and strenghten the caps to keep them from walking around and destroying your gears.

Hope this helps when your ready to get ur stuff just send me a pm and we can talk it over to make sure you have everything you need.

    Thanks Brian
