Don't waste your money on a Diablo if you can get a custom tune from great vendors like NelsonPerformance. You can also get HPTuners software and learn to do it yourself or buy a Nelson tune and use the software to send log files to them so they can update the tune as needed. You get lifetime updates for the price of shipping with the NP tune any time that you make changes.

BTW, with that RPM at 70 you probably don't have 42's or 23's...more likely 73's. It's about what my Denali does at 70 with stock 17's, stock tire size, and stock 3.73's. If you have shorter tires than mine I'd guess 55's if they made those that year. Get the RPO codes off the SPID label in the glove box and someone can tell you what you have.

6.0's get way better mileage when held at or under 2000 RPM on steady highway cruises. Mine gets 14.5 or so at 70 (2200 RPM) highway and nearly 16 at 64 MPH (2000 RPM). Yes, yours is smaller and I'm not sure what their happy place is but see how much difference there is on a 6.0.

please stay away from the handheld tuners and slp. start off with replacing the stock muffler with a magnaflow, then a cold air intake, you already have electric fans, then longtube headers and get rid of the cats. then have it custom tuned by someone (i can point you in the right direction)

+1. Nate (GasGuzzler) once said he has seen more ecu's burnt by handhelds than anything. (didnt you say that) Shy away from them. Lance knows his stuff Catch up with him and youll be on the right track. If you want to just go mail order nealson performance is the way to go.

I would guess so being that SLP uses them. Has anyone gone to 1.7 or 1.8 rocker arms? I would guess this would be an improvement as long as you can flow more air in and out. I just bought an aftermarket intake tube. Will see what that does for me.
I'm happy with my Predator. A custom tune will net more power, but, I can change my settings without pulling the ecu. If I were building a forced induction truck that was going to have a set size tires, gears, etc., I'd have gone with a custom tune. I am going to be going to bigger tires, and one of these days different gears, so the handheld works for me. Since it can datalog, and clear DTC's, it does have a little value as a tool also.

Lol you only change the ecu once... and on top of it Nelson could update your tune through email so you dont have to remove the ecu again. Just use HPtuners to log your data.

    Wow, really. Cool.
How much did the predaturd cost? Could not have been much more than HPT and if you would have bought that and a tune you could change what you want and have more power for the rest of your life.

ok. I fell really dumb now, just figured out that there is a page 2 to this forum. :-( I have determined that I have 4.10 gears (didn't think that). I have also located a place in baton rouge that does custom tunes. Is anyone familiar with Thunder racing in Baton Rouge? Their website shows that they do several mods including the custom tune. They have dyno testing to verify it also. I have always heard of handheld programmers but never had heard of the custom tune before.
