    LS6 cam into LQ9 question

Hey guys got another friend with a LQ9 in his silverado and we have a 5308 2002+ LS6 cam here in the shop.

His truck has just Volant intake , 3" Exhaust

The question is he wants to keep or if possible get better gas mileage and pick up somepower.

I know alot of people swap these cams into the 5.3 but has anyone swapped it into the 6.0 LQ9. He wants to go boost probly next year and heard this is also a good boost cam?

    Any input.

Yeah it will create a little more power, but it's wont be very noticeable. If you are going to swap cams go bigger than that.

Bigger cam will chew thru gas and gas here is now $5.41 a liter and they predict it to be $6.05 by mid summer. Anyone recommend a cam that will not have a rough idle and chew thru gas and he wont have to change out his convertor ??

Ls6 cam would give you what you want. Or maybe a comp 212/218 low lift. I'm building a 6.0 for my dd and will probably go with one of these cams. I'm in Cali so gas is really high right now too. Plus I need to be able to pass emissions tests.

It'll make a nice improvement. Set of 243's on top and it'll be an iron LS2

What's the lq9 compression out of te escalade 10:5?? I wonder what kind of power he would be able to pull.

    Lq9 short block
    243 heads with ls6 springs
    Ls6 2002+ cam
    Long tube headers
    Intake exhaust
    Hp tunners for tunning?

Cams don't killer your gas mileage. I believe playboy has a bigggggg cam and stall in a 6.2, and gets better than most.

I have a larger cam than most and my mileage was not affected with the cam. The converter killed my city driving but hwy I can get 19 with cruse set at 68mph.

Stock Lq9 is 10:1. If you put a set of unmilled 243's on that would raise the compression to about 11:1. This would probably affect your gas mileage but would gain loads of torque. Probably would put down 320-340 rwhp with the set up you listed. Probably 300-320 ft. lbs. of torque also which is what counts on a daily driver.

Hey guys still looking into this. The truck is on 26" whees and gas is $5.18-$5.30 a gallon here and he is not to keeen on putting a higher stall in it.

Labour is not a prob he is a good friend ill swap it in for him

We were thinking LS6 cam with yellow valve springs and cleaned up 243 heads and get a nelson tun on the hptunner.

Would this yelled some good power?

Or what do you guys recommend?

    Josh
