03 Silverado SS Performance Mods- need expert advice PLEASE?

My truck has the LQ9 6.0 and is all stock except for Flowmaster Dual Exhaust(40series)

I wanna know how much I can expect to gain from the following modification both alone and all together:

    1. Nelson Tune- what's the typical gain for a basically stock truck with a Nelson Tune?

    2. What's the typical gain for a Nelson Tune and Long Tube Headers with True Dual Exhaust?

    3. Is there any Cold Air Intake that really adds 20hp or so like they claim or should I just replace my factory inlet tube and drop in a K+N? Would that be just as well? Has anyone ever seen on a dyno which CAI is best bacause I'm not gonna waste $300+ for like 10HP ill never feel? So what kind of gains could I expect from a CAI system alone to my otherwise stock truck?

And now the big question is how much hp/tq can I expect from the Nelson Tune, Pace Setter Long Tubes with true duals, and a CAI? Is 50hp out of the question? That's what I want? If I added some LS1 E-Fans and ditched my stock fan would that free up enough power to justify the cost of doing it?

I want 50 more HP? Will this do it? If I add a good custom cam with all of this can I get close to 100 more HP?

Thanks and I apologize for the long post but I have no one else that knows what they are talking about to ask? Please help guys

Solid tune is good for about 20, CAI just get an ebay unit for less than $100 maybe 7 or 8, maybe, headers and a decent exhaust (NOT Flowmaster) maybe 30ish

Well that sounds good, and I love the way my truck sounds but its just too damn loud, and its all factory exhaust except for the mufflers, it has way too much of the "droning" sound, especially when towing. I pulled a truck yesterday and it annoyed the hell out of me, but if I get longtubes and remove the cats, or get some high flow cats, ill get some kind of different mufflers also. Do I have to remove my computer and send it to Nelson or do they send me one and then I send mine back as a core? I don't want to have to take my computer out for a week and wait on it to get back because my truck is my only vehicle right now

You fill out the tune form, he ships you a tuned ECU, you ship yours back to him. Easy and no downtime. I think the main question is how much do you want to spend. Good cam kit, LT's, cheap intake and tune will run you in the area of $1400-1500.

The budget 5.3 build that was posted above is your best friend for getting started in my opinion. I'd trade out the 220 cam for a little larger (228/230 area) and maybe add a 3200 stall. Will eat what little gas mileage you have up. But I owned a SSS. You dont have it for gas mileage anyway. Least once those mods are done you will enjoy the feeling of power

I'm doing a cam swap on an GEN IV 5.3 in a few weeks. DOD delete. We're going to go with the tried and true 224/228 on a 112. With your 6.0l, I'd go with a 3200 stall and a 228R for daily with a 3200-3600 stall.

your HP gains are going to be alot less than most peoples because of the AWD, also on the SS the E-fans from the 05 and up trucks will bolt right up to the core support/ radiator because the SS's came with the bigger radiators that were not standard on the regular trucks until 05. These fans are alot bigger and look alot better IMO since its a factory fit. Also on the exhaust id go with 1 7/8 primaries and when you go cam dont get a 3200 stall get at least a 3400. my little setup that i had on mine in high school and the year at wyotech was a custom cam from nelson (cant for the life of me remember the specs) 3200 stall and not enough exhaust lol. It ran ok but i always wished i had gone with some 1 7/8 primary headers and at least a 3400 stall if not a 3600. The setup did run ok just for comparison it ran down a joe gibbs truck one night and yes it was a supper charged one.

Thanks for all of the info, I really appreciate the help guys. I wonder how long my transmission would survive witH a stall? My last truck had a 3800 stall and was fun but it had a built trans and mine is stock. I was gonna get a vette servo for it or some kind of servo and hope it survives my "aggressive" driving lol

Ahh. The how long will it last question.... Well I've met people with servo, shift kit, and trans cooler that are holding power and drive all the time... I know people with fully built trans that break at random... With a 4l60e or I want to say the SSS had a 65e it's a roll of the dice even at stock out put levels. Best you or anyone with a 60-65e can seem to do is run it till failure with preventive parts and have money on the bank for when the dreaded day comes.
