Finally got edit and took it to MTI to get Jayson to get me started on t. Long stry short, it won't read my PCM. It stops and says to connect the USB adapter and/or OBDII cable. I have both on my laptop and am using the OBDII cable. FWIW, the same cable will read fine with AutoTap. So is my box bad?

What kind of port are you using on the laptop, the usb or com port?
What com port are you using?
Can you read another truck/pcm with you cable?
not sure if it takes a vin if you do that?

You should be able to read anyting. The VINs only set permissions on uploading files to the pcm. The interconnect cables from Autotap and Edit have the same pinout configuration and are interchangable so that shouldnt be the problem. Do the the leds light up when ever you plug it into the diagnostic port. I think the one on the far left stays lit all the time when connected. Then the others flash on transfer.

The vins are stored on the box. When you first get it has however many free vins slots you paid for and marries itself to the first vin(s) you try to upload to. It will come up with a confirmation message asking if you want to marry the cable to this vin number.
Greg.. also check when you open the program while connected to the truck to see if you vin pops up in the 'licensed to:' box at the top of the screen.

Hey Bad03Chevy,
Type LS1Edit into your search box on internet explorer.Should bring up their website.I think it's kind of exspensive.Think I saw it was $2400,may be wrong there.I'm looking for something like that also.Think I saw the price and gave that up.I've got an LT1 and don't know if it will work anyway. One nice program though.I need something I can change while I'm driving.Want to get rid of my speed limiter too.I'm going to drive mine everyday and will make trips to Texas in it too,so I'd like to be able to change my settings anytime I need too.Thought about a Hypertech, but it doesn't look like it will do everything I want.Got a list of about 15 different programs to check on.Come up with a reasonable one I'll let you know.
btw... Honky.. the make LT1 Edit too and that $2400 you saw must have been an unlimited tunner version. Normally runs $550 for a single vin and 150 for each additional vin up to four.
Greg... any new news?
