Newbie from Oregon with a love for GMT400's

    Hello,
We are From Grants Pass, OR and we currently own 5 GMT400's. I say we because my wife and I work side by side on our toys. We are here because we bought a 93 Chevy C1500 ECSB with a 4.woopiee and a NV3500 that used to belong to ccreddell, a forum member here. We are quite active on GMT400 and I kept hearing "that you can do a 5.3 swap for under $1000". That lead us here. I have been doing quite a bit of reseach and will continue to do so.
    The 93.

2000 Chevy K3500 crew cab, dually, diesel.

89 GMC C1500 SCSS in process of a dual TBI 383, built 700r4, 14b sf with 4.10's and an Auburn posi, 4 wheel discs, 17" centerlines, 4/6 drop.

90 Chevy ECLB, K2500 , 350, SM465. In process of building a fresh lightly modded 350 and then we are giving it to my dad as a wedding gift.

1998 Chevy K3500 crew cab, dually, diesel. (Currently for sale)

Now I have a donor! 2000 Silverado 168k 4.8, auto, 3.42 disc brake rear end. $700 and I drove it 130 miles home. It surges and loads up like crazy with the maf plugged in but it was ok unplugged. I will get it running right and then start the swap into the 93 with the nv3500 behind the 4.8.

I still think a T56 behind that 4.8 would be the hot lash...... Better gas mileage and waaay better dirveablilty....

I agree that a t56 would be ideal but as you know, I need to be somewhat comfortable leaving the truck at my office overnight. Too much money is too much risk. Im hoping to sell/scrap what I can to recoup as much of the 800's cost. I want to still have less than a grand into it (excluding the purchase price).
