whats up everyone...just a little bit about my truck before i get to my questions. i have an 01 Z71 Ext. Silverado. w/an 05 bed and taillights. I dont have any perfomance mods done to it yet, i do have my system and cb on it tho...! haha. I want to start my performance list off w/chip, exhaust, and an intake. I'm only 19 so my funds are limited, i have to do everything as i get money! my question is about the Nelson Tune. i've seen this listed on automotiveforums.com frequently and all over here...what exactly is it? what does it consist of? thanks for all ya'lls help

forget the chip, get a tune. Nelson tune is a custom tune done by either hp tuners or edit - can't remeber, but it gives you a REAL performance gain. With the tuning program, Nelson can tune/change many more things than just shift points - like timing and torque management.

Nelson Tune is a custom re-programming of your stock computer. You could equate it to a Hypertech with infinite capabilities and much better results.
No more trucks, but this is what I used to have. 2000 GMC Sierra, 6.0L-LQ4, Built 4L60, LS6 Cam, The Other Guys Headers, 3 inch exhaust and 7 chamber flowmaster, 43lb injectors, Nelson Tuning, Drop - 3/4 McGaughys Spindles, Bell Tech Shackles & Hangers. Best time 13.59 @ 106

You can order the tune over the web or on the phone. He will mail it to you.

You submit an order from a form that includes info about your current setup plus any optional stuff Allen can do. You can pay via PayPal or work directly with Allen about arranging payment. Either way Allen will want to talk to you about specifics of your tune.

He sends you a PCM programmed w/ the tune, you swap it w/ your current PCM and it return to him as a core. The swap is real easy. You'll be amazed at the difference, even w/o any other mods than the Nelson tune.

And, oh yeah. welcome to the forum.
