Just came in today, my name is Joe. I've been thinking of doing a 5.3 S-10 for a while. I'm in my final quarter as a GM ASEP student in Milford, Nebraska. Within six months I'll be ASE certified in A1-A9 standards. And hopefully within 2 years I will be GM World Class.
I'm still in the thinking stage of this, but here it goes:
-Later body style S-10, single cab, possibly extreme, but just a thought.
-5.3 AFM motor, LH6 Vin M engine (Active Fuel Management, DOD)
-4L60 with stall converter
All electronics that I can make work properly, probably use the BCM, and run the cluster from a donor vehicle. Best case cinario would be to find a wrecked 1500, envoy, or a trailblazer that I can rob all the needed parts from.
I figure with AFM, and a much lighter vehicle, the ECM will allow the engine to go into V4 much more often, and pull pretty decent MPG's with it.
There's going to be a lot of research for this project, and hopefully I can pull a lot of it from this forum, and a few others.
Couple that come to mind:
-Rear end options, 1500 would obviously be ideal, stronger, locker readily available.
-LS series intake
-Fuel lines and tank, maybe fuel cell
-possible to make ABS functional with the S-10 hubs
-Use of 1500 steering column, and hopefully the steering wheel controls
-Power steering?
Any thoughts or ideas would be great!
Thanks!![]()
