newb from the f body world

Whats up everyone. I had a '02 Formula that was stolen last year and I havent replaced it yet. I had an idea of a true street beast, a twin turbo'd 416 c.i. motor in a trans am but I had issues with that so it was all sold. Now I'm looking for a few different options, vettes, cobras, M3s, all in the same price range so who knows what i'll settle with, lol. In the mean time thou, a friend has a 2000 Single cab short bed Silverado with a 5.3 in it. Well hes selling it for real cheap and I figured I will need a tow rig and while its not the prettiest thing, it can get the job done, only issue is he thinks it spun a bearing or 2, but I have an extra LS1 with a bad crank thou. So basically i'm here to see if i can mix the 2 engines and get 1 good running engine, lol. So I'm going to go do some research. Any tips or tricks will be helpful thou.

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

The rods are good on both engines, the crank on the LS1 is bad though. Can I swap the top end from the LS1 to the 5.3?

Yes. Just be sure to have it balanced. Although the stroke is the same on the 5.3,5.7, and 6.0, the 5.7 rotating assembly is balanced different
