Everyone seems to have a different opinion

Another newbie seeking advice. I know everybody gets tired of what seems to be the same questions regarding cams, rockers, pushrods etc. With that said, I would like to thank all of you for a great forum. I have searched and read tons of threads regarding these items. Tons of advice here with very different opinions. This is what makes America great!! I would like to start off with telling you that I have built many small blocks in my day. I'm going to start my first cam install in my GenIII engine. Not knowing much about these any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. I have a 2002 4wd 2500HD, 6.0, 4l80E trans, factory aluminum heads, cold air intake, Headman ceramic coated shorty headers, cat back duals with Dynomax Ultra flow mufflers, Hypertec programer, 4:11 gears, GM green torsion bar keys, Air Rite 5,000lb air bags in rear with 315 tires. Oh I also have a train horn (careful these can get you in trouble). I need to take updated photos and I will then get them posted. I recently purchased a Z06 cam and springs out of a 2003 Vette. My question is "Do I need to replace the stock rockers, pushrods or guide plates?". If so, is there anybody with this set up in a 6.0 LQ4 with recommendations? I tow an 8500lb camper and don't want to hurt myself. I'm also planning on a custom tune with a couple of runs on a Dyno. Any help, advice or recomendations are appreciated.

Stock rockers are fine for almost everyone. There are no guideplate on an LS. Hardened pushrods are extra insurance but probably don't HAVE to be replaced although I would.

Thanks, Do you think the LS6 springs will be fine? Seems like most are using 7.40 push rods. I've been looking at the harland sharp 1.7 rockers. Do you know if guide plates are required for these rockers since they are connected?

all you need is springs and pushrods. what cam are you going with? If you want a nice 6.0 cam a 224 from TSP would be good but you would need a stall converter. I think a cam kit from Texas speed and performance is like 600 plus tax and shipping but comes with 918 springs and TSP pushrods.

Z06 springs should be fine with a Z06 cam. Don't waste money on the rockers IMO, stock are fine. For extra safety against rocker bearing failure to quiet them down you can have a bushing conversion done. PM DBRODS for the link or find the topic where he sent some off to be converted.

oh i didnt read that you use it as a tow rig. what about a LS2 cam, just checked it the same as an 01 Z06 cam. What about a 220/220 from TSP with a 115 LSA so it wont sound so redical?

Thank's for the advice. Nice Denali, Just got one for my wife and man I'm jealous. Same color and style as yours. 2005 model year. As soon as I'm done with my truck, hers is next.

I was talking to a local speed shop and he said the LS6 cam seems to be the best cam for this application in his expierence. He'll be doing my custom tune and dyno runs. He claims he can get me 50 foot pounds more torque. I'll try anything once.
