    Hello From Orlando

Just purchased a '98 Sonoma Stepside (2.2L) and a '04 LM4/4L60E for a swap. Truck will supplement my DD when I have to haul stuff and it will be used to occassionally tow a drag car when I want to race out of town. Wife might also occassionally entertain herself down the strip with it.

I flipped when I saw a forum for LSx-powered trucks and glad to be a member.

Hey man--welcome to the site. We have some other guys who are doing/have done LSX swaps into S-series trucks. You plan on doing any mods to the 5.3L before swapping it? And where did you get that aluminum block 5.3L? Out of an 03-04 SSR?

The engine/trans came from an '04 Trailblazer EXT with 41K miles. Other than the headers from the swap kit, the engine will remain stock. My main focus for the truck is to have it capable of towing the car I race when I go out of town. However, I do plan to do a 3/3 drop, 16x8 chrome IROC replicas, 245/50s and 255/50s, 3.42s. I need a relatively econominal and reliable truck and if the wife runs it at the track, get high-13s out of it.........for now

The car I will tow is a 2JZ-powered 2nd-gen RX7 that should go 9.30s or quicker when I get it sorted out. It is a street car but I run it hard and dont want to be stranded far from home if I break it. Car has gone 9.60 @ 144.5 with slow 60'. Problem with launch is now fixed and should be testing it soon.

Here are pics of the engine/trans stripped down to clean it up and the only pic I have of the truck.

Oh nice man...I was about to say--the only vehicles the LM4 came in was the 03-04 SSRs and the Trailblazer EXTs and the Envoy XL. But good find nonetheless. Trust me, you can do all bolt on mods to that motor and not compromise its reliability. I have not known anyone to do bolt ons and have reliability probs. You can get good gears and a towing cam that would make that little truck run well.

Oh no--you put a Toyota motor in the RX7? Booooo! Should have done a 13B TT or even an LSX swap into before that inline 6. But that is just me. Is the 2JZ N/A or FI?

I wont go down that rabbit hole on this forum, especially with your avatar

It is a stock turbo longblock, T-72, pump gas/meth injection. Estimated 900+hp at the crank based on MPH & weight. Lets see a rotary or any stock block match that.

Back to the topic on hand. Here is a recently posted pic of exactly how the truck should look when done, with slightly wider tires in the rear and minus the cowl hood.......maybe.
