Ok, drop your truck off at a custom auto shop and tell them you want 250+ hp and you want it in your S-10...they'll charge you about $8000 to do it.
I'd recommend an LS1, or the 5.3L which already has 285hp...
you'll need the following:
Custom Motormounts (homeade probly)
Nelson's Performance PCM Tune - $300?
Painless Wiring Harness - $786
Walbro Fuel Pump - $100 from ebay
some custom fuel lines $80?
and good wiring schematics - $100 each (ie. one for the motor, and one for the s-10)
And you'll need a tranny that can hold up to it, like a 4L60E 2wd, i think you said your truck was 2wd, that's another $400
I almost forgot, you need the engine...

so add $1000
you'll need a PCM too - $250?
Total: $3,116....and i'm sure you'll need other things, maybe a radiator...and some wire...and an air intake....
