So, are 4.8L and 5.3L engines LS1's? Or is it just that they have LS1 blocks. Just looking for clarifacation!

4.8 (???) & 5.3 (LM7)- both use same blocks, different internals, different heads (I think)
    5.7 (LS1) - block all it's own (more ci)
6.0 (LQ4/LQ9)- block all it's own (more ci)

I believe the external engine & accessory mounting design is the same b/t the 4.8/5.3/6.0 motors, but that LS1 (5.7) is definitely different. Someone else here can definitely point out more differences than I, but that should be the basics.

Bore, stroke and head chambers vary but same external and most internals same. A cam from one will fit the other, etc.
