    Thumbs up

Will the 4.8 bolt to all the truck and fbody 4L60Es? I have heard some of the trannys won't bolt to the truck block.

Also Edelbrock is coming out with a new carb intake for the LS1 family, will a 700R4 bolt to the 4.8?

Any trans from a 98+ F-body will work for sure.

Also an older 700R4 will not fit. The bolt pattern changed on the new blocks.

Do you have any info on the carb intake manifold??

Here is the link to the page. Click new for 2004, then select intake manifolds and scroll down to the section about ls1.

Anyone know about the truck 4L60Es? I know they go back to 95 and maybe before. Will they all work with the 4.8?

Also can I swap the tailshaft off my 700R4 onto a 4L60E to retain the torque arm provision?

Here is the info about the LS1 Carb Intake:

    Performer RPM LS1 Carbureted Manifold
This powerful new manifold is designed for the popular Chevrolet LS1 (5.7L) small-block V8 originally used in 1996 and later Corvettes and 1997-02 Camaros and Firebirds. It also fits the Corvette ZO6 engine and any other Gen III engines including the LM7 (5.3L), LR4 (4.8L), and LQ4 (6.0L). The Performer RPM LS1 manifold allows the use of a carburetor on these originally computer-controlled engines, offering maximum power and a broad torque curve, providing optimum performance from 1500 to 6500 rpm. This manifold includes a unique electronic Timing Control Module made by MSD® which works with OE sensors to fire the “distributorless” ignition system and offers a choice of three timing curves. We have also included a special throttle and trans bracket that works with 700R-4 and Turbo 350 transmissions making the LS1 engine an easy retro-fit into any muscle car, street rod or marine application.

I like the idea of being able to run a carb on them, but doesn't that just defeat the point of getting that engine? I could just go with a 383 stroker or something if that's what i wanted?

Nothing wrong with a carb on a truck block in a muscle car.

As for the "Carbureted, hahaha that is like going back to an outhouse after having indoor plumbing!!" You either posted it on LS1Tech and thought it was so funny it needed to be posted here, or stole it from that site. LOL
I don't quite understand this post, is there a post missing or something.

Thanks for the info, it's nice to see new parts, but

Comes with a special timing control, there goes all your tuning out the door.
Let's see there's probably a curve for NOS, FI and NA, wow, what choices lol.

If I were gonna build a carb engine, I would just build a 383 or something similar, the ls1 is a FI engine, I wonder how it's gonna run with a carb setup not to mention no control over the timing and a/f ratio.

i'm sure it won't go anywhere, lol
