I'm getting closer to putting my LS1 in my truck and was wanting to know how you guys like your LS1s compared to the previous motor you had in it? Please list your mods and PLEASE post any dyno graphs/#s you have of the LS1 in your truck! Thanks.

I have a 98 LS1 in my 94 C1500 and I love it . Not only do I have twice the power of that crappy V6 that was in the truck , but I get better mileage . I live in New Orleans and drove out to Biloxi , Ms for July 4 and I put ten gallons of gas in the old girl and it was a hair above empty . Anyway , I went out there and back on that ten gallons of gas with 220 miles reading on the trip odometer and the needle was back in the same spot , so I know I must be getting close to 22 on the highway . How's that for efficiency ? And I was racing a guy in one of those sporty Ford Taurus' with the V6 for about 20 miles coming back . And I still don't have the O2 sensors hooked up because it seeks idle when I do . I've got it in the local LT1 shop right now trying to have that problem solved . BTW , I tried to race a guy in a Hemi truck and he wouldn't have any of it . He drove the damned thing like it was a Pinto . His license plate was personalized and read "HEMIMAN"

I agree with Cheyenne. I think the LS1 even gets better gas mileage than the old V6/700R I had in it. As far as power is always there, even with the motor being stock and all. Combine the LS1 with a great drivetrain and you get one hell of a fast truck. I ran a 14.8 with 3.08 gears and a one wheel wonder, so that should tell you.
    Had a 91 SB, Open diff, 3.08 gears, stock LS1/T56. 14.8@95.9...sold.

I guess I want to determine what you mean by "ls1" your signature shows a 99 with a 5.3 I would label this as an "ls1". Are you swapping in a different truck? I am not sure what differences the 5.3 and 5.7 motors would have in terms of power sure the 5.7 is bigger but are very simular

Yeah, I've got a 5.3 and I'm gonna put in a 5.7 LS1. I've been looking at dyno graphs and dyno #s of LS1s w/ small cams (224/224 & smaller) and the under the curve torque and top-end horsepower are pretty dang impressive for only a .4Liter/21c.i. increase in displacement over the 5.3.
