need some help on a parts list for a 6.0 swap

Alright guys i am looking to try and pull the trigger on buying a 6.0 engine turnkey application, but i need a parts list for what i need in order to do the swap

I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado k1500 TBI 5.7 with 4l60e trans. manual hand shift transfer case. I believe 3.73 gears. automatic.

I plan on keeping my original 4l60e trans unless anyone has a suggestion or reasoning on using a 4l80e (i know the inards are beefier)

I will probably do some light towing like a 82 2500 gmc longbed truck, couple longbed 67-72 1500 c10s. I dont plan on doing extreme heavy hauls or anything extreme with my truck but i would like it to be able to handle what i do tow or pull.

I found a good source for a a clean tested engine off pirate 4x4.
    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/motor...ng-1995-a.html

    I know ill need

mounts (not sure where to find em or which i need)
read about Transdapt Mounting Plates which i believe let u use your existing mounts...not sure and some dirty dingo ones.

if anyone has an exact list of what ill need other then the engine, so that i can get this started that'd be awesome.

I'm trying to make a list and i am clueless where to start. I have read some forum writeups on here and other sites but between them all i'm not sure what all ill need as well as its confusing me on some things.

heres a list of writeups ive looked at and read but i couldnt really put together a specific list of what id need.

Just looking for a list with or without part numbers or prices so i can get it done.

welcome to the sight. but i can tell you since your new and your already asking for a parts list, your not gonna get to many answers other than "try the search button". not trying to be an ass as i will help you out but your gonna have to read and read and read some more. you can find almost everything on here that you need just by searching. and no your not gonna find it immediately and yes you will have to read though pages and pages of posts. lol. im in the middle of the process of doing a 6.0 in my 95 right now i was able to find out 95% of parts i needed without asking any questions just by searching.

im suprised my thread isnt in one of the links you posted since im doing an almost identicle swap as you. and ive been posting almost every other day which means its pretty much one of the first threads at the top of the page, soooooo if you were really searching the forum you would have came accross it.

but to answer your question, there really is no "list" because every swap will be different depending on the year and model of BOTH the truck its going in and the donor vehicle/motor and the options that each one came with. so you really need to know what you already have and whats going to go in it. no use buying parts if you dont even have the motor yet cuz that will determine what parts you need too and how your going to set it up. which intake do you want? you gonna keep DBC or go DBW? accesories? smog? you can see how the list goes on. it all depends what you want your end result to be that determines what your gonna need to buy.

search for my swap thread. i put a detailed parts list in there specifially for somone in your shoes (doing a similar swap as me) to help ease the searching process. im sure you can benefit from my thread. check it out. and also check out another member mikeymotormounts threads. he has also done a 6.0 swap and has helped me the most out of anyone on here. hes a great source of information.

dont be afraid to ask questions. thats not the point i am trying to make. just saying search as much as you can before you ask.
so go check it out! and most of all have fun! im about half way through and hopefully ill have it up and running in the next week. some things are frustrating. mostly the wiring. but dont give up. it will all make sense if you stay on top of it. and when you do start the swap, be sure to start a thread showing your progress. pics are worth a thousand words. ill keep an eye out for it as i wanna see how it turns out. good luck!!!

thanks for the reply, i basically have saved older threads that i have found, i will definately check out yours. im just trying to get a rough list together so i know what to expect when i start. i kinda want a rough amount of what im going to spend.

Im looking for the easiest way to do the swap which i assume is DBC since thats what i currently have. thanks again for the reply and ill check out your thread.

no problem man. feel free to post any questions you cant figure out in my thread. ill help the best i can.

also check this sight out. http://lt1swap.com/2000harness.htm thats where most people go for wiring. even if you decide to buy a purchase a harness, you still may find it usefull. me and mikey both sent our pcms to him to have them flashed and slightly tuned.

Welcome Chris. I am no help with what you are doing, but I found it a lot less cost to buy a complete wreck for engine, trans(if needed), and other bits. You will be surprised how many little bits you will need that cost from a wrecker. I was lucky to pick up a wrecked car for my LS1 conversion that we could also use bits for my daughters car, so win win all the way.
Can you pick up wrecked trucks over there cheap?

thanks for the reply but right now i dont have room for the wrecked truck and by finding the pirate 4x4 guy its the best route to know im getting a tested clean and road worthy motor, with salvage they are dirty and imo you never know if the warrenty they give you will work through meaning they may fuck u over if something happens

i basically need to know the basic things i need other then emission stuff, since im in oklahoma we dont have emission testings so i dont have to worry bout that crap so i need the basic list like

    motor mounts
    trans adapter shit. etc

Welcome to the site. For engine mounts, I used plates and my existing mounts. I found them on E bay. Around $35 or $40 bucks. Be sure to get the 1" setback plates so your trans will line up with your cross member.

Here's a link that may answer some trans questions. Check it out:

Little by little, your info will come and I'm sure you'll have questions along the way as all of us have had.

Wow!$3K-things are horrendously overpriced on this island but even here you can get a way better deal than that!I would do some more shopping around before pulling the trigger on that one.
