    5.3 in 95 rcsb

I am gonna put a 5.3 in my 95 sierra 4wd. I can either use the 95 trans I have now or just get a trans with the engine when i get it but my question is would the newer engine and trans bolt up in the same position as the original trans or do I have to move the trans mount or can I still use the 1" setback mount or do I have to use the 0 setback mount? If I have to use the 0 setback will I have any problems fitting the exhaust manifolds in there? Thanks to anyone that can help me.

I have use 4575 transdapt 1'' setback mount in my 94 4x4 with 5.3 and new 4l65e.The combo is still 1/2 forward the stock location but the drive shafts and the manifold fit perfect.

You will definitely need the 1" setback plates. Believe me, I know from what happened to me. I ordered standard plates, not knowing I needed the setback plates. I put the engine in, mounted the trans and found that the trans mount was 1" forward of where it should have been on the cross member. I ended up slotting the holes in the cross member forward to accomodate the new location.

The new location did help with the 6.0 stock exhaust installation but it did make things a little tight on the front side of the engine.

As for the driveshafts, they still worked but the front one was a little tight getting in. I should have cut 1/2" off the splined end to make installation easier.

Just got back from a snowmobiling trip to upstated N.Y. towing a sled trailer. Round trip was about 600 miles. Truck ran flawlessly.

what compressor bracket did you use I am looking all over for one and cant decide which one. Two more questions how did you hook up the alternator so the battery light and voltmeter work and what did you do to hook up the vss to make the abs work? Thanks

Here's a link to what you can do to make your old bracket work. I did it and it works very well.

The belt lines up perfect with no shims or collars or anything like that? What did you use to make the brackets. I want ac but dont wanna spend 300 for a bracket

I had to do tweaking with it but the belt does line up. The bracket is the original bracket I had off my old 350 with the bottom cut off as described in the link in my last post. I then used the round bar brackets from the old engine to make the braces as described in the link.

Here's a pic of the bracket laying on the cart beside the 6.0 engine.:

If you don't have the bracket, I'm sure they are cheaply availabe at your local wrecking yard or on Ebay.
