88 Chevy C1500 LS swap rear axle ?'s

Which rear axle is suggested to use? It has the stock 8.5" 10 bolt GM axle still in it, I want to change the gears so I figured it was a good time to upgrade, or buy better parts for this one??

I am swapping a 2002 LQ4 with a 2wd 4L60E, the motor will remain stock for now (just an EFI Live tune to make it all work and probably a little timing and TQ reductions) I planned on a small stall and shift kit for the 4L60E.

There is nothing wrong with your corporate 10. Since you want to change gears, also install a quality carrier like a Detroit, Yukon or Eaton. I see no need to swap the axle unless your current one has structural integrity issues. There is a vendor in the sponsor section of this forum that sell ring and pinions with carriers at a pretty good price. Check it out if you get a chance http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/spons...xles-more.html

Thanks, I will probably just buy good parts for the 10 bolt I have, I believe it is the 8.5"? If not I will find one, there are plenty of parts around here for Chevy pick ups.
