    Cool Finally got it mobile!

Got working on my truck finally today. Was having clutch and starter clearance issues. First setup was a LS6 flywheel/4.8 clutch/NV3500. Bolted up, starter clearance was good but the clutch wouldn't release. Figured out the 4.8 flywheel is about a half inch thicker than the LS6 so figured that was the problem. Got a 4.8 flywheel, bolted it up, and it was too close to the block so the starter dragged. Didn't know what the hell to do then, so I ordered a 4L80 flexplate spacer, went to put it in today and the damn bolts were too short, the bolts are direct ship from manufacturer, already had the tranny out of the truck. I was pissed. So I got thinking, I'll put the LS6 flywheel back in to solve the flywheel bolt issue, and shim the slave cylinder out. Got it back together before 5:00, fired it up and the clutch works perfect! Don't have it off the hoist yet, still gotta bolt the exhaust up, fired it up without the Y pipe and man does it ever sound sweet! Wish it could leave it like that! Gonna put the right fuel filter on tomorrow, throw a new leaf spring in it and take it for a test drive tomorrow!!

About damn time! Have fun. I must've put about 100km on mine untuned, leaky ass exhaust and all kinds of other loose ends. Just couldn't resist.

Man Devin you have no idea how stoked I am now! Tomorrow morning I'm going to put the Vette fuel filter on, replace the broken leaf spring, tidy up some wiring and go for a cruise. Just gonna take it real easy and see how it runs, hopefully in a couple weeks i'll have insurance on it and will be driving it.

Glad to hear you got it goin. It's amazing what you can put together if you take a few steps back and analyze the problem.

Yep for sure, was talking over my idea with a 30 year tech before I did it and he said... "well, that's one of those things where you need a case of beer, pack of smokes, camp fire and a few lads to discuss to see if it will work"

It literally takes me about 15 minutes to R&R the tranny on my truck when it's on the hoist so I said piss on it, I'll try it, glad I did!

Shannonville Raceway is pretty much right between us. We're gonna have to meet up and have a battle of the black ex-v6 5speed trucks!

would love to join the battle of the gear slingers; I have a 5.3/nv3500 with a ls1 flywheel/4.8lclutch. when ur starter was dragging, was it excessive or?

Sounds good Devin! Shannonville is about 2 1/2 hours from me. blacstar, is your 5.3 an iron block? My LS6 is aluminum and the crank must be a bit shorter. Yes it was very excessive, the gear was engaged 3/8" into the flywheel just bolted up. Was hitting the case too.

Just had it out for it's first rip! Ran great, after all the 3 year old fuel was out of it. Have to iron out a couple things though, out of the blue the steering wheel shakes like hell, don't know what is causing it. Only happens over 50mph or so, it's very violent! Scared the heck outa me first time it happened. Anyways, it goes like hell, very impressed with it! Sure beats the ole 4.3!

One other thing... my speedo is WAY off. My wiring harness is out of a 2wd suburban, VSS plugged right in, but at 10mph it's reading about 40mph. Any ideas? Might try wiring a variable resistor in and dial it in with the GPS.

Well just had it out for another burn! I tell ya, did an alignment on a 2010 Camaro SS yesterday and had it out for a roadtest, my truck would put a damn good run on it! Finally getting the old shitty fuel out of it and it's starting to come around. Gave it a good run from the bottom of 2nd gear up to 100mph or so, got there mighty quick!!
