    1997 2WD. Considering 6.0L and 6L80E

I have a '97 1500 2WD and am considering a swap to a 6.0 -6L80E drop out combination complete. Does anyone have any experience with this swap? Any fit problems with this trans? Shifter to use, yoke, etc. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have heard the 6L80e is a pain to use in swaps and I think most end up going with the 6L90E if you want to keep the 6speed.

The 6spds are difficult in swaps due to how new they are any the small aftermarket they have compaired to the 4L80E.
The case is bigger than typical 4 speeds and the TCM is difficult to tune just right! You will need the new shifter out of the truck which gives you the options to row thru all 6 gears.

It would be a great swap no doubt! And you would love it! I say go for it!

Thanks for the replies! Guess one of my main concerns is the size of the transmission. I think there would be enough room in the tunnel but I dont know for sure.? Sure would be nice to get the shifter out of the donor vehicle, thanks for the suggestions. Any more thoughts?
