    waited a long time

First off glad to be here i have waited a LONG long time to post here and its finnaly here. i have a 96 obs swbexc truck and i am finnaly swapping out my tired 305. i just bought an 6.0 and 4l80E out of a 05 3/4 ton with all the accesories. i bought the schoenfields the BRP adapters i am ready the question is when i called nelson today i said i want to drive by cable not wire. She said i should get the custom harness and PCM from them. which i said i would but then she said my speedo wont work. my question is whats not going to work what else am i going to have to splice? i really just want to plug and play maybe have the 2 harnesses mated is there such a service thanks for the help.

Also which TB do i need to buy for the 6.0 to drive by cable?

    Thanks in advance

    Eddie

Welcome to the site. I did a swap on a 1990 RCSB so mine was different. We have quite a few swaps done here. Maybe someone that did a 96 will chime in. Can you still get the pedal and module from the truck to keep your DBW? That would be the easier way to do the swap.

Hey bud welcome, are you sure its a 6.0, not insulting your intelligance but my buddy bought a 6.0 bolted to a 4l80e out of an 05 3/4 tons, turns out that 6.0 is a 5.3 some of the long bed 05 3/4 tons are 5.3s

All you gotta do is feed the 05's speedo output into your truck harness speedo input...the GM (I should say our trucks) speedos for the most part use the standard 4k feed, even back into my year range (91) and probably a little earlier.
I swapped an 0411 into my 98 tahoe using Lextech's spreadsheet and my speedo works fine, which tells me that it is plug and play. Should be the same for you, also. My 0411 directly feeds my 91's cluster, no issues.
the pinout for your 96 is here

with that being said do i need a custom harness or do i just use the one that came with the 6.0?

and will the ac work or do i need to re-wire that?

could look on the block behind the ps pump and Alternator bracket and it should say 6.0 and if its a 5.3 it will say 5.3/4.8
