    1998 Silverado 5.3 Budget build?

    Ok...

Well first i wanna say thanks ahead of time.

    Now .. I have a 1998 Silverado 2wd with the 5.0 4l60e i would assume "" Vortec "" laugh**

Well the truck has 262k miles and the 305 let lose and guys i must say she still rides like its new no clunks nothing just a rod knock from a spun bearing.

I can get my hands on a 5.3 Motor for 750.00 pan to intake as of right now no alt,ps, nothing just the motor and injectors ect .. 81k miles running in the truck.

I would like to say my short term goal is ZERO mods to the motor at this time.
I would use this truck as a DD mostly weekly trips out of state from St Louis TO KY & TN.

I have about 1700 bucks on hand and well i dont wanna mess with the 305 anymore ..
I have a lift all tools and minor wiring work nitrous, painless box ect.. nothing like ECU stuff or tuning EFI.

What do you guys think ? i have no ideal what headers/harness&ECU/mounts would be.In the long-run i would love to single turbo this truck and then go from there after......... i learn how to tune LSX' motor's. I have done a small amount on DSM's throwing turbo's on building cold and hot side pipe's and wiring & tuneing on them.

Think i can make this work with $1700 to have the motor ready for DD with zero lights on and working with my current trans ?I do not have to worry about Safety or Emissions but i still hate when i have a light on in my dash. This truck is in 100% stock form and well im very attached to it and i know i know throw a 5.7 vortec in it but i think it needs something better like the 5.3 then maybe a 6.0 heheh.

thanks for your time guys let me know

    Rob.

    ********* UPDATE********************

As of now after reading everything I just got a 305 to throw back in the truck for now
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AMEBOFFX%3AIT

975 bucks for a remain aint to bad just to get the truck moving till i get all the parts ready for the swap then i can sell the 305 later ... I went to the local yards and well i can get the 100% complete motor ecu and wiring harness for 750 bucks for a 5.3 .
But the plan is to save enough to get the headers all the brackets the harness and a few other goodies .

Theres a ton of info on here for sure! 1500 wont cut it for a Done Right swap buy any-means i think i can have a nice setup for around 3k exhaust cam ect....

Thanks for the help i just wanna make sure when im ready to do the swap i have everything no going back to the store for parts hahah!
