04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0 Engine Swap

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I have been reading several articles on the forums and had a new questions. I would like to do a 5.3 to 6.0 LQ4 swap on our 04 tahoe. The engine just started knock and is becomming tired the high mile we have on it. I just found found a low mileage 6.0L (under 40k) with wiring and ecu. The wiring had been damaged tough during removal. Do I need the 6.0 wiring or am I able to use my existing harness with some modifications. Also which ecu do I use on the truck? Thanks guys.

swap longblock and use top end off your 5.3, and harness and computer, then have the PCM tuned for the 6.0. It will run with the 5.3 tune, just can optimize it for the 6.0 later.

Thats what I have read. Does the 5.3 intake flow better? Is that why you use it? Or does it just all match up better? Is there an aftermarket company that does the tune?

the intakes are so close, if not exactly the same it doesn't matter to swap to the 6.0 intake.

After you get it swapped and running, you can have several, including Nelson do the tune for it.

The heads off the 5.3 have a smaller combustion chamber which would give you more more compression thats why it is beneficial

Thanks guys. I just bought a 6.0 from an 05 chevy with 9K miles on it. It will be there this weekend. I'll keep you posted.
