I have a 2000 LS1 out of a trans am and I need to bolt up an 4L60E form a fullsize truck.

The question is will this work?

The second question is if it doesn't what 4L60E would work (for 4x4)

I need help on this one bad I only find bits and peices i'm not getting the full story on this problem.

    Thanks

The 4L60E's from the earlier TBI trucks are slightly different, they will bolt up but require some work, you may be better off getting one that came from a 99+ LS engine truck.
If it's from an LS Truck (5.3L etc...) it will bolt up just fine. I have the LS6 block and truck transmission (same as the fbody trans).

The only difference between the 4L60e's from the 4x4 trucks and 2wd trucks is the tail housing, on the 4x4's the transfer case bolts in place of the tailshaft for the 2wd's.

You came to the right place to find out the whole story, i'm sure others will join in and comment, we'll get your project lined out.

    good luck,

What would be THE BEST truck to get the 4L60E from? To handle the HP

I think the '03's have the 4L65E, i believe there are just a few upgraded components over the 4L60E, so that would be the best one, but you'll be just fine getting the 99+ 4L60E from the trucks that have the ls style engine. Just put a shift kit in there along with the servo everyone does, and you'll be good to go for a while.

I've always like the late model blazer's. I've been telling my wife i want to buy one and put an ls1 in one. They are just the right size and are suprisingly roomy for a compact suv.

good luck on the project, and feel free to post lots of questions,

ya there are a few with them in previous gen camaros, me with my 94 Chevy truck, you got gmcwantsls1 with his gmc, and there are a few others on this board (sorry i didn't mention them) that have ls1's and auto's.

it's a great combination in any vehicle, but i think they are a little slower if you put it in a ford, doh

what is the type, or name of a transfer case bolted to a 4L60E on a 1999 to 2002, 4x4 1500 truck. and what side does the shaft going to the front on (drivers side or pass.)

If I find a good tranny I might want the transfer case as well and I will need to know ahead of time.

    thanks X 1000000
