This is when DBW is a good idea for a swap since you get the cruise control built into the PCM.
I've got a 98 chevy c1500 4.3L and am doing a lq4 swap. I want to put cruise in it and need to find out what i need. I seen the cruise box on the firewall of some in the junk yard. Is that all I would need is that box, wiring, and turn signal with cruise or more to it than that? And since i'm doing an lq4 swap can I use the cruise from the 98 year or have to use from the motor year truck?

Well thats what i'm wondering. I am going dbc, but my style truck there is a cruise box/servo outside on firewall, it would take 10 min to get it off. Not sure what else is there in the system, if the pcm controls cruise too or just that box.
99-02 trucks use the same cruise system as the OBS trucks, just a different length cable length from the module to the throttle.
Install a OBS turn stalk with switch and the appropriate wiring to the module and you will be good to go.
gotta get all the wiring for the cruise thats inside the cab, too.

Sweet, cause the yard only wants $15 for the cruise module. Ok so i'd have to get the turn signal stalk off, have to figure that one out. And i'm guessing the wiring your talking about goes from the stalk to the module, and fuse box. Am I missing anything?
Why couldnt you just tap in the vss signal that your cruise box needs from the genIII ecm?

Ohh ok I thought his truck already had it.

Ok what do you mean by adding components? I i use the cruise module and turn signal from my year truck it should all plug right up. Is there something else I have to add besides a longer cable?
