If you're not totally head over heels in love with your truck right now I would suggest you trade your truck in for one with a V8 in it already. In the long run you will save a lot of money and time. You can do it yourself with the help of your friends but you're going to have a lot of hours in the conversion, chasing down parts and buying beer and dinner for your buddies. Once you have a V8 truck then you can work out the performance mods from there. If you buy a drop out engine from a salvage yard you're going to need to get pretty much everything from under the hood of the donor vehicle to swap over to your truck including the driver side engine mount bracket. Buying a complete insurance totaled V8 truck 2003+ model would be the best way to do it so you can bring it home and strip everything you're going to need from it and put it in your truck. Have I mentioned how much easier it would be to trade up for a factory V8 truck?

soo if i was going to start from scratch....id buy a v8 truck, but i want the 6L in the truck cause i wanna go fast...so ur saying if i bought a v8 truck and got a 6L motor and tranny from a donor it would be easier to drop in rather than going from my V6 to a 6L

try and look for a complete pull out ( might not find one) when i say complete i mean front belt accessaries, harness, computer, i got a set of mounts if you need them... now for FI i would go lq4 cause the already low compression, now NA the lq9 would be great, with a shot of juice!!!

anyway good luck on the swap or whatever you decide, i went from v6 to v8!!! huge difference!!

The only difference between what you wanna do and what you can do is the $$$ you put in. What is your budget and time frame?
