    2010 5.3 Turbo manifold leak

These are some crappy pics of my brothers 2010 CC 5.3 T70, took em in the morning cuz he works nightshift from 3pm till 4-5am.

U can kinda see the intercooler through the bumper.

I was regapping the plugs because the truck did not like TR6 with 30 gap and noticed that the manifold was leaking on the top. This is what i found after i tore it apart. The pic is upside down.

Pulled the turbo and for sure it was leaking on the manifold side.

To fix this we ordered ARP header studs and Percys gaskets.

The diff in gasket thickness should help seal this sucker up alot better than the stock stuff

Heres some shots of some studs installed

Here it is going back together.

Huh seems like i forgot to get pics of the finished product. Anyway it builds boost a hell of a lot faster than before. No more exhaust leaks for this baby.

Damm forgot about this one. Its been almost nine months since we did this and we have raised boost, relocated the maf and are about to add a cam and still no exhaust leaks.

I know you guys were turning lower than expected times, did this help some? Do you have more recent track times?

Yes it did help. As soon as we finished installing this the truck spooled way faster. When we first put the turbo on I knew nothing about setting anything up. Thanks to the Nelson Performance crew for being extremely patient with us its starts spooling at about 2200 rpm and at full throttle it pulls like a bat outta hell. We havent had any problems with any exhaust leaks and we havent been able to hit the track sine the last time I posted up the 15 sec times. The truck now has nitto 420s wich hook ALOT better than the goodyears they come with and by the end of january we should have our isky 212/551/212 cam in it. With 11 pounds of boost and 60# injectors we hope it doesnt run out of fuel and when we get the chance we hope to run it at the ls1 shoot out and do better than 15 seconds.
