Thumbs up

I have the LEDs and have mapped out the cluster as far as pos and neg spots on the board.I need to know if the bulbs are in series or what?where there is a bulb I have 12 volts and I have 2 spots that I removed the bulbs and the voltage is like .013 volts.Probably needs to be a bulb in place. The LEDs I have are black and red wire for automotive apps.I can see a small resistor or diode in line rite before the LED.I can hook the wires direct to 12 volts and the work fine.anyway.....the older cluster is a twist and lock bulb and these are soldered in.No problem installing them I just need to know power and possibly polarity or any other issue. The LEDs are available at a local supply and about 25.00.It would be a cool mod,I just need a little help

i dont want to be a burden. but where are you buying the leds from? what cluster did you end up going with? i bought these blue leds from the website off of this thread on gmfs.com, and the leds i have, have lasted almost a year. if you end up going with some from like autozone or somewhere, then they might burn out really fast. alot of people have bought from this site and it seems to be working out good. the price isnt bad at all either. http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24726 i have the same exact cluster, but mine is white.

Cool man....thanks for the efffort. This is one of those mods that require some liquid metal skills I hope this works or I trashed my ss cluster for nothing!

OK I have in front of me Volume 3 of the Helms manual for my 2004 Avalanche...

The IPC has several feeds. It recieves 12V hot all times at P100 (Plug) on Pin B11 color is orange.
Ground is On pin B12 which is Blk/Wht in color

Ignition circuit is Pin B9 through plug P100 and color is Pink.

It would appear all indicators are led diode in parallel off of the class 2 data bus module (sorry this is a block diagram)
All lamps show a common Ignition pwr circuit in parallel and independent ground circuits controlled by the class 2 data module. There are no wire colors assigned to either pwr or grnd circuits so I would assume all of this is by printed circuit board. All gauges show the similar pwr and ground scenario back to the Class 2 module

I can send these sheets from work tomorrow in any form you need. PM me to let me know whether to fax, scan and post, or scan and email... Whatever you preferr....

Hope this helps.... BTW.. I have several silver conductive pens left over from my computer overclocking/mod days if you run out....
