My truck is a 2000 Silverado 5.3L ext. cab LT series 4x4. When a local shop was working on my truck, the positive lead from the battery shorted to the outside metal on the alternator with sparks. Now, the tachonometer inside my instrument cluster does not move. It worked fine before this happened. I need to know what needs to be done to fix this problem. Did he fry the cluster, any fuses, or other wiring??? Any solutions would help. Thanks in advance.

you may have to replace the cluster, check all the fuses, take the possitive and negative battery cables off the battery, touch the positive cable to the negative cable. NOT THE BATTERY!!! hold the cables together for 1min, this will clear out any logic lock in the modules, its like rebooting your home computer. reconnect the battery, start the engine. if it still doesnt work, get a tech 2 scanner, preform a gague test to see if the needle moves, if it moves than check the pcm output to the cluster. if not, reprogram the cluster,if that doesnt work than its time to replace it.
