You will need to run the wires for the temp sensor. Also you will proably need the plug from the one witht the temp sensor as yours won't have the wires in the pins needed for the temp sensor. The temp sensor actually sits somewhere behind the grille.
Read this thread, it should help you to better understand what you are trying to do. I did this swap in my 98 and thus far have not boughten the temp sensor so as of now my mirror reads "OC" for the temp (open circuit).
