Well, something wierd happened today. When I got home form work, after driving all day, my electric fans stayed on after I turned the car off. After about 15 to 30 mins they went off. I couldn't figure out why they were staying on, and they have never done this before. Is this normal, or I need some help to figure out how to stop it.

    Thanks,
    Randy

How do you have your fans hooked up? Are they activated by the pcm or do you have a temp probe or some sort of device that activates them. Is you battery still alive or did the fans turn off cause the battery died?
I'm sure you have relays powering the fan, any other way wouldn't be right.

So, do you have the relay's power supplied by a constant hot wire or are they only hot (fans not on, but power to the relay) or have power supplied to them when the key is on. If they stayed on and your relays only have power when the key is on that one is wierd.

IF you have constant hot supplied to them and then you turn the key off and they still have power supplied to them, maybe you have a funky relay that likes to stay on and keeps powering the fan.

When i say powering the relays, i mean does the supplied power to the relay come from a constant hot or ignition hot wire, not that the relay is switch on, sorry for the confusion. just clearing that up.

if you have constant power to the relay and the temp probe activate or grounds the relay cause it reached it's desired temp, i can see how the fans stayed on, kind of a nice feature.

mine are activated by the pcm and they turn off when the key is off, just fyi.

good luck and let us konw, if it only did this once, that is wierd,

I went to O'rileys and bought a relay to wire up the fans. I didn't install it, my friend did that is real good with electronics, he installs car audio systems all day. I beleive the kit has a temp relay that senses the temp in the radiator ( a probe is stuck in the radiator), It has a power cable that runs to the battery, and a ground wire. It also has a wire that runs to the A/C relay, and I beleive one that runs to the ignition relay. I know twobit has the same setup, maybe he can explain it better. I eventualy want to hook them up the way you have them hooked up.

As far as my avatar, have you ever seen Montey Python's Quest for the Holey Grail. It is a picture of the Kight who says Ni. I thought is was a goofey picture, so I used it.

    Thanks,

I'd say somehow your wiring was backwards, you have a constant lead crossed with a switched lead. No big deal. I'd get a cheapass volt-a-meter for $10 and that should help you. I got mine with a digital readout from ebay! I love that place.

Also...you avater is funny shit. The Holy Grail is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Didn't those "Knights who say Ni" hate the word "it"?! The best part is that Bridge of Death asking people questions like: what is you name? what is your quest? what is the capital of Assyria? "Well I don't know that! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh"

I beleive we followed the directions. But anyway, I want to hook them up the way farmtruc has his, as soon as I can come up with the money for tuning. I havn't had anymore problems with it, and it was the only time it has ever happened, but I will keep an eye on it.

Quest for the Holy Grail, is one of my favorite movies. "What is your favorite color?", that bridge was funny, and the black knight , (spoken with an english accent) "Come back here and I'll bite your knee caps off."

Oh yeah, off the PCM would be ideal. Isn't one a low speed and one a high speed when wired up off the PCM?

ya, it's real nice having it activated from the pcm, mine is a z28, i can do the dual setup where it has low and high, but full blast is fine for me.

on the truck pcms, you can do it too, you'll have just one pin from the pcm to turn both of them on, but that is still great, i don't think anything can turn the fans to "aux" and "on" , so you'll need ls1edit to do this, i don't think predator can do it. i may be wrong, but havent heard any success about it.

if were going to send it to me, just let me know when and i'll give you a good deal on everything,

Full blast would not be bad, maybe have one switch on at 183* then the other at 185* to avoid charging system surges.

The Predator seems to be causing many many problems so I am staying far from that.

I'd like to get EDIT and learn to use it so if I do any more mods I could tune accordingly. Besides I could go from stock PCM, to just no TqMgt and raised shift points, then corrected A/F, then add timing.
