    Steering Wheel Control Lights

Just bought my 06 Z71. A couple of the lights in the steering wheel controls are out. I was wondering if this is an easy fix, or if it's just something to leave alone (too much trouble and potential for more issues)? Thanks.

They aren't that hard. Want them fixed like this?? The pic is kinda blurry, but I replaced every light in my truck with an LED, even the door switches.

Do you have any instructions on doing the LED swap? Any resistors involved? I thought about doing this, but would need more info before I'd try it. At first glance, I'm not even sure how to dig into the steering wheel. I didn't see a way to get the the horn/AB off (unless you just pull it off??). Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have any instructions on how to do it, but I can do it for you. To get the steering wheel off, there are two holes in the sides if the wheel that release the air bag, you push in with a small screwdriver and it will come straight out. I left the wires for the airbag connected when I did this. Then you just gently pry the buttons out and disconnect the wires. I re-routed the wires for easeier access when re-installing the buttons. You have to use a resistor for each LED.

Okay, doesn't sound too difficult. Thanks for the heads up on the holes. Probably would have found them ... after beating my head against the horn button for a while (beep, beep, beep, .... )
