    Moving Gauges With Truck Off

Having a few of the gauges move after the truck is shut off.
2002 Silverado 4.8 w/5.3 swap, tuned, and driving daily

If i turn the truck off and leave the key in the ignition all the gauges will drop down like they should. But after a few seconds the Temp gauge will go to 210, and the Fuel gauge will go to 3/4 tank regardless how much is actually in there.

I also noticed the same thing when i merely put the key in the ignition and wait a few seconds.

    Any thoughts?

Torch it! Those clusters have some issues. The fuel sending unit is causing the gas guage to move, my buddy's truck did the same thing until we replaced the fuel pump and sending unit. Not sure about the temp gauge playing ping pong.

Gas gauge works fine. This is with the truck off and the key off but still in the ignition.

could it be that the residual power is holding the gauges to 0 and as the voltage drops to nothing they go to a position where they would be if they were completely disconnected?

It does this when the security light is NOT blinking, truck is off, and key out of ignition.

If you turn teh volume up you will hear a click before the gauges move.

Great oil pressure at ''off'' . I'm leaning towards you needing a new instrument cluster. Seeing as you have an '04, you're prolly gonna need to go to a dealership and have install one. You have to do this because, they need to be programmed '03 and up.

In that case, buy a remaned one on ebay and close this thread! You can even get a 2500 cluster, with a trans temp gauge and it'll work too!

Even if you do get one at the dealership, only corporate HQ can do the work on the clusters. The one in my '04 'Burban stripped the gears. The stealership had it for two weeks (and we had a crappy Montana rental from Enterprise RAC) while they sent the cluster back to Detroit (or where ever) to get it fixed. They said they were not allow to touch the things other than to pull them out. It was all covered under warranty, but it still sucked not having the vehicle.
