    Alternator How big?

O.k., I replaced my stock alternator a couple of years ago with a 145 amp hoping this would help out with adding e-fans on top of a small stereo amp and some misc. things plugged in the power outlets, cell charger, gps, radar detector, nothing huge. Well, I have started to notice recently that my volt guage is waiving at me, dipping down and coming back up and when this happens my truck hesitates and my lights go dim for a split second. The other day I go to start the truck and nothing, no click, no lights, nothing, so I check under the hood for any loose wires can't find anything, try to start again and it fires right up like nothing even happened. Had to go through the whole computer relearn process, so I know I lost power. I had the alternator and the Optima battery checked and both checked out o.k. Do I simply need a bigger alternator or possibly a bad ground (where would I look to check ground). Would the a/c have anything to do with it?????????? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!

I added an extra ground cable on mine and also an extra positive cable goin from the battery straight to the back of the alternator. This helpd alot when all my stuff was turned on, especially the fans, the voltage dipped as usual but came right back up to where it was. I actually gained .3 volts doin this.

+1 on the grounds.. you can never have too many grounds, and the added positive cable to the battery from the alt is a good idea as well.. i added one on my truck..

if you didnt already do this, find an alternator shop, or somewhere online, that has a smaller diameter pulley for your alternator.. it will help keep the voltage from dropping at idle.. as far as not cranking, i have no clue..

O.k. I'm an electrical idiot, I understand adding another power wire and bypassing the red distribution box, but another ground? where to where???
