86? That's the last year for the carb so it should be cable on the speedo. It prolly twisted in two but the other problem I have no idea. Maybe a ground for the whole dash?

No the speedo still works fine thats why i said i assume its cable driven. I pulled out the cd player that was added in lastnight after something shorted out and burnt up some other wireing that the po installed. They bought the adapter harness for the stereo but wired in a bunch of aftermarket under dash lights in with it and i found some bare wires which prob caused the lights to catchfire. All thats out but still havent found my gauge problem yet.

probably a blown fuse, burned/broken wire or bad ground. Check the ground and check voltage everywhere its supposed to have it.

Could also be the electrical wiring in the steering column, PITA to swap.

Well i looked and never found any fuses for the gauges like how my cars are setup (82&86) i guess ill have to look in one of those repair manuals to find all the wiring diagrams and such. I do know the colum has been out before when the trans was replaced with a th350 from 700r4.

On my 78 there is a ground wire for the dash up on the emergency brake brackets and every time it would come off I would have issues with my guages and the lighting for them.

Ill have to take a look for that when i get back in town. I know im having a issue with the e brake setup at the moment also. Like the cable is stretched or there is a spring or something missing causing the foot pedal to contact with the brake switch.
