Ok let's here some thoughts on Power Programmers. There are currently two available for my truck. First there's the Hypertech which adjusts air/fuel, timing, shift points/firmness, rev/speed limiters, and tire/gear changes. Then there's the Superchips equivalent which does all of the above plus reads ECU diagnostic codes. Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Can anyone recommend one over the other? I'm mainly looking for something that will adjust for different tire sizes and firm up my shifts, but being able to read trouble codes would be a nice bonus...

Also, I should have my Magnaflow catback installed by this afternoon provided the sun stays out, so the programmer won't be my only mod...

I have some experience with the hpp3, It's a programmer meant for simple changes. It's really not worth the money. I heard superchips is better and gets more hp out of the two. The best one of them all is having someone program your pcm. The others are meant to work on thousands of automobiles just like yours, a programmer can tune to your specific car/truck.

if you decide to get one of the two , get the superchips. If you want the best tune, have someone tune it for you.

btw, i can tune it. heheheh

What about the diablosport predator? wouldn't this work on the truck, and doesn't it do more than HPPIII or superships. It seems to be a pretty popular model.

Ya, i forgot about that one, diablo is probably the best beginner tuner out there. If ls1edit didn't exist, i'd go for that one.

It's still limited as far as what you can do, but i believe you can get a custom file made for you pcm which is pretty good.

Save your money and get your PCM tuned. There is a lot more power in you truck just "tuned out" from the factory and going to waste. You could spend thousands on mods and never reach the potental that tuning can. Many aftermarket tuning mods can actually remove power from your truck. Most trick the computer instead of tuning it. Believe me you will be much happier with the tuning.

Wow, so many responses in so little time.. This forum is starting to shape up quite nicely... Anyway, about the Diablosport predator, where can I find some more information about it??

Also, Farmtruc, I'd be interested in hearing about your tuning programs. I checked your website, but for some reason I was under the impression that you were more LS1 based with your tuning. I'd like to hear what you can offer for us LT1 guys, and what costs are associated. Thanks.
