    TVS2300 install help needed

i'm asking this for a friend who's having problems with his blower install.

the car is a 2010 camaro with the L99, and he just installed a Maggie TVS2300 he bought used from a shop. it was only used for about a month & swapped for a whipple because the previous owner didn't think it whined enough!

anyway, he got everything installed & had a canned tune from Magnuson til he could get it dyno tuned. got it started last night and ran fine for about a minute then started smoking progressively more and the idle starts to slowly drop. then it starts surging & dies.

does anybody have any ideas on what could be going on here?
here's his build thread - start with post #536

To me it's either the shitty canned tune or a vacuum leak.

that's what we're thinking. he said he can't think of anywhere it would be leaking, but i told him to get some carb clean/engine starter/etc & spray everything down & see if it gets sucked in & drives the rpms up. we'll see...

    really?!
out of all the dozens of boosted guys out there, only one of y'all has any input?

not that canadians don't have good advice... it'd just be nice to have other input

I wonder if it has something to do with venting that crankcase. When I installed my cheapie cai, I kept throwing PO171 codes (Bank 1 running lean) until I ran the breather line back into the intake tract. Surging and stalling are certainly symptoms. With boost, the problem might be amplified. Just a thought

Really on a truck forum? You're not getting any advice? Really? I would never believe it. Woe is me.

we couldn't find any problems with the PCV. the line from the head is still run to his intake like it should & when i pulled it off & stopped it with my finger to feel the pressure, it's very light until i keep it plugged, so we believe it's working fine.

it did act like it was running real lean when we were messing with it last night. for one, the Maggie tune that they sent him to drive to the dyno on is for a bone stock car with the blower, so his fastlane intake & catless LTs ain't factored in. we decided to just basically idle it down the road a little to see if it was detonating at all & it felt like it was starting around 1200rpm or so. it's definitely full of good 93 octane, so it ain't bad gas. we think it's the canned tune being too far off & are probably gonna just trailer it to a shop for the real tune. only problem is finding a tuner in the area!

    woe is you, jerk
this site is full of supercharged LS engines and this install is almost no different than putting one on a new tahoe, silverado, etc. i've posted this exact thread on another truck forum and had great responses for the past few days, thank you.

funny sarcasm is always welcome in my book (God knows i've dished out enough), but this was either you being dumb or you just really failed at delivery

Seems it was a negative on both. Seems you can dish it out and not take it. Seems this is a truck forum, not one specific to 5th Gen Camaros. Go over to Z28.com, LS1tech.com, or some other place which caters to 5th Gen Camaros and you'd get a much better answer. Better yet, have your buddy who owns the Camaro and I'm sure the lack of the middle man will help him get the answers he needs. In the mean time, grow a sense of humor.

well in the absence of a sarcasm font, you have to leave clues as to how serious you are. as written, it looks like you're calling me a retard for asking for help with an LS engine on an LS engine website just because it's in a car. i did fall on my funny bone, so maybe it wasn't working right.

we're both on a 5th gen camaro forum & getting help there (you can actually read the thread i linked), but everybody seems to be at a loss for specific ideas right now other than thinking the tune's off (which after messing with it saturday, i'm thinking the same thing - but i've never personally dealt with a supercharger install & neither has he). we're just trying to get multiple opinions and see if anybody knows other things to check or look for. the engine is only marginally different than what they put in the new trucks therefore the install would be quite similar & have similar physical things to look for & check.

regarding where i'm asking for help, like i mentioned earlier, i asked this on an even broader truck forum (which still has many blown LS trucks) and got plenty of great people trying to help. but then again, i've noticed that people on there tend to be a little more open-minded.

I don't think there is a problem with you asking the questions. I'm not a mod on here so I have no say one way or the other with what gets written here (and not trying to suggest I should). I was only suggesting (and yes, my original post WAS sarcasm) you might get better results by asking on one of those sites rather than here. I'm sure there has been a few of these installs done over there is all. Good luck and I hope you are able to get your issues worked out.
