E-Fan temp question
I just got done with a 4.3 to 5.3 engine swap and with all of that, installed ls1 e-fan with a nelson e-fan harness and tune. I keep the same radiator and running a stock 186 deg thermostat.
With the e-fan's the truck at idle runs around 230+. At 197deg the fans turn on and as it get's hotter I don't see or hear a change in the fans rpm. I'm not comfortable driving the truck that hot so as a temp fix, I put the org engine back on. Now the truck runs 197 to 200deg on the freeway and at lights. Due to a fresh install, the A/C system isn't working yet so I can't tell if the fan turns on with the A/C.
With the stock 4.3 radiator, 186deg thermo, and e-fans, what temps should I be looking at? Should I upgrade to the bigger radiator and or a 160deg thermo?
Thanks
Carnell

Spoke to the folks over at Nelson Tune about the e-fan and current engine temp. After talking with Erica, the high engine temp was due to air stuck in the block. I took the top hose off, added some more fluid and burped it. I also took off the engine fan so it will be the e-fans only. So far after taking it for a short spin and letting it idle for a long time, The temp was stable at 194f and around 200 after a quick hard drive. Later tonight I'm going to take it for a spin on the freeway and my guess is that it will be fine....
