    Building Custom Sub Box

Hey guys, i plan on building a sub box for one 12" alpine. The box will be under the back folding seat (extended cab) on the passenger side and fire down. I plan to take up the whole area under the bench seat on the passenger side, and run the box over the raised center area under the bench seat. I want to leave the driver side under the bench seat open to mount my amp. Has anyone ever done this and has pics? And im not sure if i want to port it because i really dont know how to do it the right way, so any advice is a help.

I've done it 2-3 times, no I don't have pics. I can design you a 3-d box in Solid Edge if you want. I would need your dimensions and such. I can also figure out the port length and such you would need.

Its gonna be a weird box design but its gonna have a height of 9 in., 36 in. long, and 13 in. deep. Its just that im building the box to go over the hump in the center which means its gonna lose 3 in. up when the box goes over that. If you get what i mean but thanks

The hump is bigger than three inches, trust me I found out the hard way. Minimum of four inches to clear the hump. Also, the type R is not going to fit downfiring, unless you don't mind the surround of the sub hitting the floor. I have tried everything to get more mounting depth from under my back seat, with my pair of 10"s down firing the most I can get is 6" inside the box. That's with only 1.25" from baffle to floor. Not saying you can't do it, just might want to reconsider.

EDIT: You also have to use a staggered box height. 9 inches in the front and 8.25" in the back, that's only if you want your seat to have full range of motion and so you are not sitting on the box, ruining the seat or box.

That's how I've always built them. I did an RE SX 12 downfiring but had it suspended off the floor 2". I also had to lift the seat 3"
