Talking Appearance Mods for the Noob!!!!!!

Hey guys, new here, just picked up an 02 White Z71 ext. cab.

Some quick questions I would like to ask some of you guys.

I was wondering what's the cheapest and most effective method of tinting my taillights or "smoking" them out????? Anything for a broke ass college kid would help!!!!

I'm also wondering what grille guard is best on a white truck (For those who own one with a guard).

Also what is the best and cheapest lift kit you guys would recommend? Im not trying to turn it into a monster or anything, just maybe " give em some performance enhancers", give em a meaner look.

Last thing, Wheels and Tire packages!!! What is everyone rollin' on and what do you guys think about powdercoated or black wheels on white trucks. Yay or nay!??????

Thanks again, I usually go to JC Whitney.com, but if you guys know of a more reputable and chevrolet truck specific place, please let me know.

browse about the site and look at the signatures. there is alot of lowered turbo trucks on here but the is several lifted trucks on bigger tires too. post pics of your truck now. black candy paint on the tails will work. i think some autostores has a "can-o-tint" or similar. never used it myself. id start by beefing the tranny as you can. What gears and motor you have?

hows a broke ass college kid buying a truck, lift, and wheels/tires

As for going for a lift dont buy a cheap one they suck. Mine has a fabtech kit all the way around it's expensive but it rides great. Im not much on the black look on the wheels chromes my thing. But try craigslist or ebay you can find a set of good used wheels cheap

i personally like black wheels on white trucks. i plan on doing it once i talk myself into spending the money. A lot of my freinds have used a product called thc night shades i believe is the name for painting taillights. it can be bought at advanced autos.

i might not be able to help a ton because i don't plan on doing quite a few of your mods, but as for my truck, i'm getting a set of Firestone Destination A/T 285/75-16s next time around. we already have a set on the excursion & really like them. they hold a balance, are pretty quiet, are really smooth (for 8-ply tires anyway), and have pretty good wet traction (don't know about snow - we don't get much here in TN & judging by the fact you're on this forum, i'm guessing you're in TX anyway)

i like the white truck/black wheels look... especially with white letter tires. you can also get away with certain 35"s without a lift. a couple guys on FSC actually fit 36"s

some other cheap mods are shaving the antenna & debadging. if you have a sierra, the headlights are super-easy to clear.
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
