    Shining up the ride.

Dudes, I'm sure you all already know this but a random orbit buffer is the only way to go. I bought this ‘Ho in December, it’s a 2K. From a distance the paint looks fine, the reds still bright, but when you get up close there are a lot of swirls and fine scratch marks. It looks like someone use a broom to brush the snow off the hood. It also has a few more major scratches. My buffer isn’t a commercial grade, it’s just a $50 Craftsman I got at Sears but it does the job. First I washed with Joy, then clay barred. Next I used Meguiar’s Dual Action Cleaner/Polish #83. Using the buffer I did the hood three times. Then I used the Meguiar’s Deep Crystal System Step 2 Polish, twice. I followed that with the NXT wax. Look at the pics and pay attention to the swirls, halo’s, spider webs, and just basic haze that is on the left side compared to the right side. Last year I did my whole Durango R/T (it was monochrome so that means the whole damned thing) with the Meguiar's Steps 1 & 2 completely by hand, took me freakin' days and damned near killed off my arm. A buffer is sweeeeeet. Granted, there are a few scratches that prolly won’t come out without a professional having at it, but I’m very pleased with the results. I’m thinking some #7 Show Car Glaze might give it an even wetter shine.

Thanks. Yesterday I polished all the chrome and Armour All'd all the black trim. Today I take it to work and look out the window and the groundskeeper is blowing all the grass from mowing and the pollen and cotton from the cottonwood trees off the sidewalk, and right at the 'Ho. As I watch, he finishes, looks at the 'Ho, then walks over to it and blows all the dust and crap off of it. I mean it was still covered with the fine **** but at least he tried. I gave him a Coke for his efforts.

Good job, the products you are using are really good as well, but don't use JOY to wash your truck, that mess just eats away all the waxes and stuff. Use some car washing soap . The only other thing i would have used on there would be a heavy duty swirl removal, it would fill in those small spider swirls you see. Then use a nice gold class wax, i dont like the nxt wax to greasy for me. but good job for a first time.

Man, I really need to clay bar and wax my truck. Lots of junk on the paint from winter driving.

    Dayum, sweet SS.

Thanks. As for the Joy, that was by design. First wash of the year I want to strip off all the old wax and crap that I can. Now that it's clean and waxed I'll use Meguiar's car wash. There really aren't many spider swirls left, the #83 took care of them, what's left are more significant scratches. I used the Gold Class last year and liked the results. I decided to try the NXT this year because I liked the GC so much, I figured if the NXT was suppose to be better I'd like it even more.

You should always wash with a mild detergent before you bar/polish/wax. It takes off all the old wax.
